Come to our weekly sessions in Ramsgate: Every Thursday 5.30 to 7.30 pm in the Salvation Army Hall, Ramsgate. Suitable for adults, older children and all abilities. Under 18s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Drums provided Come and try out some Samba and funky drumming in this free weekly workshop. Led by Jazz and Soul Funkster, Rich de Rosa, this is a Great British Carnival project led by outdoor artist, Teresa Askew, who also drums in the band. “We’’ve got the beats (and the drums) to move your feet” |
Samba Ya Wantsum is a diverse and inclusive community drumming collective based in Ramsgate conceived of and founded by outdoor artist, Teresa Askew of Great British Carnival, and led by experienced musician and founding member, Rich da Rosa who has worked with a with a wide range of musicians including: Joel Culpepper, Rita Ora, DJ Fresh, Example, Lily Allan, Dizzee Rascal, Rizzle Kicks and Ms Dynamite.
Teresa says “Samba Ya Wantsum is open to everyone. We pride ourselves on our diversity and inclusion because Drumming is for everyone and good for your heart and soul.”
The band meets weekly at drumming sessions which are free for anyone interested to attend and join in with. See below for full details.
They provide a joyous and energetic performance at events, supporting and encouraging parades, bringing the beats and the drums to move your feet - sometimes incorporating a brass section, always accompanied by joy and lots of smiles.
